North Sea Lubricants is expanding its WAVE POWER SPECIAL ECO range with two new ultra low viscosity engine oils:
WAVE POWER SPECIAL ECO 0W-8 and WAVE POWER SPECIAL ECO 0W-12.
Both products will be available from December 2025 in pack sizes from 1 liter up to bulk deliveries, and are developed for the latest generation hybrid and plug in hybrid passenger cars and light vans.
Engine oils built around hybrid technology
Modern hybrid engines place different demands on engine oil. They start and stop more often, run at lower temperatures for part of the time, and need a product that supports fuel economy while still protecting critical engine parts.
WAVE POWER SPECIAL ECO 0W-8 and 0W-12 are based on 100% synthetic base oils combined with a dedicated additive package. They are suitable for gasoline engines, including engines that use ethanol containing fuels up to E85, in vehicles where the manufacturer allows SAE 0W-8 or 0W-12 and specifies API SP or JASO GLV-1.
These two grades exceeds:
- API SP + RC
- JASO GLV-1, the Japanese standard for very low viscosity hybrid engine oils
The JASO GLV-1 specification focuses on strong fuel economy in combination with engine protection. Oils that meet this standard must show clear fuel economy benefits in JASO M365 (Nissan) and JASO M366 (Toyota) tests, while also controlling LSPI and timing chain wear.
